At Progressive Pediatric Therapy, our commitment to helping families doesn’t stop at the therapy session door. Whether you’re seeking extra guidance as a current client or exploring ways to support your child’s development before pursuing therapy, we’re here to help.

That’s where Parent Coaching and Wellness Visits come in. Two supportive, expert-led programs created to empower families with clarity, confidence, and practical strategies for real life.

What Is Parent Coaching?

Think of Parent Coaching as your one-on-one time with your child’s therapist, focused entirely on you.

It’s a collaborative consultation between a licensed pediatric therapist and a caregiver, designed for current Progressive Pediatric Therapy families who want to dive deeper into goals, strategies, and solutions without taking time away from hands-on therapy.

During Parent Coaching sessions, families can:

  • Review therapy goals and progress in detail
  • Adapt home programs to fit real-life routines
  • Problem-solve specific challenges at home, school, or in the community
  • Receive expert advice on areas like sleep hygiene, AAC, potty training, and mobility
  • Collaborate with other professionals such as school therapists or physicians

These private-pay sessions are scheduled outside of therapy hours and are available via teletherapy or phone, making them convenient and accessible for busy families.

What Is a Wellness Visit?

Not every concern requires an evaluation, but every family deserves support.

Wellness Visits are guidance-based, one-time sessions that give families the opportunity to meet with a licensed pediatric OT, PT, or SLP for tailored advice and practical strategies, no referral or diagnosis required.

They’re perfect for families who’ve asked questions like:

  • “Is this normal?”
  • “Should I be worried about this stage?”
  • “What can I do to support my child at home?”

Each session includes:

  • A quick developmental snapshot
  • Explanation of what’s typical vs. when to seek support
  • Simple strategies you can start using today
  • A personalized plan based on your child’s needs

Whether your child avoids physical play, struggles with big feelings, is picky with food, or you're navigating bilingual language development, there’s a Wellness Visit tailored for your concerns.

Parent Coaching vs. Wellness Visits: What’s the Difference?

Supporting Real Life, Not Just Therapy Goals

Families often share that home programs feel overwhelming, or that they’re not sure how to apply therapy strategies during the hustle of daily routines.

Parent Coaching provides the space to pause and plan, to really understand the why behind recommendations and feel confident using them at home.

For new families or those with early concerns, Wellness Visits offer a reassuring, pressure-free space to get expert insight and support without jumping straight into evaluations or therapy.

Both programs are built to meet families where they are, because parenting comes with questions, and expert guidance should be easy to access.

Why Families and Pediatricians Trust These Programs

Pediatricians often face concerns that land in the “wait and see” zone. Instead of waiting, Wellness Visits offer a proactive step families can take now.

Parent Coaching, on the other hand, helps bridge the gap between what’s happening in therapy and what’s happening at home, so that progress doesn’t stop when sessions end.

Together, these programs empower families to be informed, confident partners in their child’s development.

In today’s tech-filled world, many parents notice the same pattern at home: when there’s a quiet moment, children often reach for a screen. While technology can be helpful in moderation, play remains one of the most important ways children grow, connect, and learn about the world. At Progressive Pediatric Therapy, our Play Development Wellness Visit helps families understand how play develops and provides simple, practical strategies to encourage creativity, independence, and connection—without the daily battles over screen time.

Summer is a time for fun, family vacations, pool days, and a much-needed break from the school routine. But for many children, summer can also bring something educators call the “summer slide” the loss of important academic skills during the months away from school. For children who struggle with reading, language, or literacy confidence, those gaps can grow even wider over the summer months. That’s why Progressive Pediatric Therapy created our Summer Private Reading Intensive — a personalized, one-to-one literacy experience designed to help children strengthen foundational reading skills while building confidence and momentum before the new school year begins. Using the trusted Lively Letters® approach, our summer program combines evidence-based literacy instruction with engaging, multisensory learning strategies that help children stay motivated and successful.
